Schmigadoon! Returns to Stage: The Musical Takes Over Washington D.C.’s Kennedy Center

‘Schmigadoon!’ Stage Musical to Debut World Premiere in Washington D.C. the Following Winter

Washington D.C.’s Kennedy Center’s Broadway Center Stage has announced that the popular musical comedy TV series Schmigadoon! is set to make its stage debut. The world premiere production of Schmigadoon! the musical will take place at the Kennedy Center’s Eisenhower Theater from January 31 to February 9, 2005.

Based on the Emmy-winning series that aired on Apple TV+ from 2021-2023, Schmigadoon! tells the story of two New York doctors, Josh and Melissa, who find themselves trapped in a magical town called Schmigadoon after getting lost in the woods during a backpacking trip.

The casting for the stage musical has not been announced yet but it will feature popular songs from the TV series’ Grammy-nominated score, including the award-winning “Corn Puddin’”, along with new songs. The musical was created by Cinco Paul, who also wrote the book, music, and lyrics, and will be directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Christopher Gattelli. The production of Schmigadoon! is done by special arrangement with Broadway Video.

Schmigadoon! had a diverse ensemble cast lead by Cecily Strong and Keegan-Michael Key. It also featured a number of guest stars and recurring characters including Fred Armisen, Dove Cameron, Kristin Chenoweth, Alan Cumming, Ariana DeBose, Jane Krakowski, Martin Short
