Shreyas Iyer’s Leadership Skills Impress BCCI Selectors, MSK Prasad Grooms Him for Captaincy Role in Future.

Potential India Captaincy Prospect Overlooked for T20 World Cup Spot: Not Hardik Pandya or Shubman Gill

During his time as BCCI chief selector, MSK Prasad recognized Shreyas Iyer’s potential to become a future captain of the Indian cricket team. Despite not being on central contract with the BCCI and missing out on the squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, Iyer had impressed selectors with his leadership skills. While captaining India A, Iyer had caught their attention and was groomed for the captaincy role.

Prasad noted that Iyer’s leadership abilities were evident while leading India A to victory in several series. He was considered a top contender for the captaincy post after Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, even ahead of Rishabh Pant. Furthermore, Prasad praised Iyer’s maturing leadership skills while captaining Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL. He mentioned that he was receiving good team management and support from the franchise.

Prasad expressed confidence that Shreyas Iyer was on track to becoming a successful captain with investment from KKR and his evolving leadership abilities. He emphasized that Iyer had been groomed for the captaincy position and was considered a strong candidate to lead the Indian cricket team in the future.
