The North Dakota Health and Human Services has announced the organizations selected to receive funding for its suicide prevention initiative. Six groups were chosen for their ability to provide support to individuals struggling with mental health issues. These include Minot State University’s Center for Persons with Disabilities, Peer Vision for Mental Health, Haugen Performance Consulting, Eyes on the Horizon Consulting, Consensus Council, and Cook Center for Human Connection.

Melissa Markegard, the suicide prevention administrator for HHS, emphasized the importance of early intervention in preventing suicide. She highlighted that everyone shares the same goal of reducing and eliminating suicide within the state of North Dakota. If you or someone you know is experiencing thoughts of self-harm or suicide, please reach out for help by calling or texting 9-8-8. This hotline operates 24/7 to provide support to those in need.

The six organizations selected by North Dakota Health and Human Services have demonstrated a commitment to providing valuable support to individuals struggling with mental health issues. Each group has been carefully vetted based on their ability to make a real difference in the lives of those they serve. By providing this funding, HHS hopes to create a supportive network that can help prevent suicide and promote mental wellness throughout the state.
