Business Improvement Districts Recognized for their Dedication in Supporting Small Businesses

The city’s small businesses are the lifeblood of its communities, and on Monday, that was celebrated through events held across the five boroughs. Commissioner Kevin Kim of the NYC Small Business Services emphasized the impact of the 75 BIDs in New York City, covering 300 miles of commercial corridors and injecting $194 million into the economy annually. These business improvement districts (BIDs) work tirelessly to support small businesses within their communities by providing resources, organizing events, and advocating for policy changes.

Mayor Eric Adams also made an announcement during these outreach events, unveiling nearly $7 million in investments for small businesses. Adams believes these funds will not only boost tourism but also strengthen commercial corridors throughout the city. By investing in these businesses, he hopes to create a more vibrant and prosperous city for everyone.

In addition to these investments and celebrations, the upcoming New York City Small Business Expo on May 29 will provide a platform for hundreds of small businesses to come together. This expo will offer opportunities for networking, showcasing products and services, and forging new partnerships. By uniting these businesses, the expo aims to support their growth and success in the competitive business landscape of New York City. Together, we can create a brighter future for our city’s small businesses and ensure that they continue to thrive for generations to come.
