Sha’Carri Richardson and Cardi B meet and discuss the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics

The World 100m champion, Sha’Carri Richardson, and Grammy Award-winning rapper Cardi B met in a video that premiered during NBC Sports’ coverage of the 150th Kentucky Derby on Saturday. In the spot, Richardson and Cardi B are seen getting their nails done together, discussing Richardson’s training regimen, and sharing their excitement for the Olympics being held in Paris.

Richardson had won the 2023 World 100m title in 10.65 seconds, making her an early favorite for the Paris Olympic 100m final on Aug. 3. Before heading to the Olympics, Richardson needs to make the team at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials from June 21-30 in Eugene, Oregon. The top three women in the 100m qualify for the individual event in Paris, and the top six will likely compete in the 4x100m relay.

NBC Sports and Peacock will air live coverage of the Pre Classic in Eugene on May 25, which is considered one of the most prestigious annual international track and field meets held in the U.S., as well as other key competitions leading up to the Paris Games. Prior to making it to Eugene, Richardson is scheduled to race at various meets including her own personal meet called “The Fastest Woman on Earth Invitational” where she set her world record of running a 9.78 second over a hundred meters last year at this invitational meet alone!
