Steelers Sign Ex-Detroit Lions Cornerback Sutton to One-Year Deal After Domestic Violence Allegations

Sutton returns to Steelers following release from Lions

The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed former Detroit Lions cornerback Cameron Sutton to a one-year deal. Sutton, who is 29 years old, was released by the Lions in March following domestic violence allegations in Florida. He entered a pretrial diversion program in April and had his charges reduced to misdemeanor battery. Despite his past issues, Sutton is now back with the team that originally drafted him in the third round of the 2017 NFL draft.

Sutton played for Pittsburgh from 2017 to 2022 before joining the Lions on a three-year, $33 million contract. Last season, he started all 17 regular-season games for Detroit, recording 65 tackles, an interception, one forced fumble, and defended six passes. He also played in three playoff games with the Lions. Now that he has returned to Pittsburgh on a one-year deal, Sutton is excited to continue his football career with the Steelers and bring his experience and talent to help strengthen their defense for the upcoming season.
