High School Team in North Jersey Earns Spotlight for April 29-May 5

In NorthJersey.com’s weekly poll, readers can vote for the standout teams of the week in spring high school sports. This week, there were many impressive performances that deserve recognition.

The Demarest softball team went 3-1 and had a notable win over Hawthorne. Fair Lawn softball pulled off an upset by defeating the third-seeded Fair Lawn team 6-1 in the Bergen County Tournament. Leonia girls track & field secured their first league title since 1991. Mahwah girls lacrosse had a successful week with wins over Ramsey, Montville, and an upset victory over Ramapo in the Bergen County Tournament.

Pascack Hills baseball had a stellar 5-0 week, including a come-from-behind victory over Paramus in the Bergen County Tournament. St. Mary baseball also had a successful week, going 3-0 and outscoring opponents 20-1. West Milford boys track & field secured their first league title since 2011, while Westwood boys lacrosse had three wins, including overtime victories over Demarest and West Milford.
