The Teenage Prodigy: Kris Kim Makes His PGA Tour Debut and Surpasses Spieth’s Record

16-year-old amateur Kris Kim impresses the golf world by making cut in PGA Tour debut

Kris Kim, a 16-year-old English teenager, made his PGA Tour debut a memorable one as the youngest player to make the cut in nine years. Despite being the youngest, Kim surpassed the record previously set by Jordan Spieth in 2010 at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson tournament in McKinney, Texas.

Kim’s impressive performance was marked by his remarkable composure as he carded a three-under-68 first round and a four-under-67 second round. Although he admitted to feeling nerves on the 18th hole, Kim made a birdie putt to secure his spot in the cut. The amateur golfer expressed his joy at being able to play two more days at the tournament.

Kim’s mother, Ji-Hyun Suh, introduced him to golf when he was just five years old. Suh, a former professional golfer herself, is now serving as her son’s swing coach and has played a significant role in his success. Kim has already achieved great success in his amateur career and has won multiple championships. He is currently sitting in a tie for 36th place on the PGA Tour after making an impressive transition from amateur golf to professional golf.

As Kim looks forward to the third round of the tournament, he is seven shots behind the overnight leader but remains confident in his abilities. The tournament also saw Jordan Spieth struggle with injuries and fail to make the cut. Kim will tee off for the third round on Saturday morning, eager to continue his impressive debut on the PGA Tour and showcase his talent once again.
