Garner Industries, a company located near Waverly, recently announced layoffs for several employees after their facility was destroyed by an EF-3 tornado. The destruction of the 115,000-square-foot building resulted in injuries to three individuals and affected 62 employees.
Scott McLain, CEO and president of Garner Industries, shared in a press release that the company is committed to finding a way forward despite the challenges presented by the natural disaster. He acknowledged the difficulty of the situation and emphasized the close-knit relationships between the employees and their employer.
Affected employees will receive compensation and health benefits during this transitional period. Garner Industries has set up various forms of support for their employees, including community assistance, medical and mental health resources, as well as opportunities for new employment. In an effort to continue operations, the company is in the process of relocating Garner’s BinMaster product line to an alternate location in Lincoln.
