World Central Kitchen Members Killed in Gaza, According to José Andrés

On Monday, World Central Kitchen nonprofit organization lost several members in Gaza. Celebrity chef and humanitarian José Andrés announced the tragic news on Twitter and expressed his sorrow for the loss of these individuals. He emphasized that they were not faceless or nameless, but rather people with families and loved ones who were killed while delivering meals to those in need.

The Associated Press reported that an Israeli airstrike killed four international aid workers from the World Central Kitchen charity, including their Palestinian driver. The organization released a statement on social media condemning the tragedy and emphasizing that humanitarian aid workers and civilians should never be targeted.

Founded in 2010 by José Andrés, World Central Kitchen is dedicated to cooking and delivering meals to people in need following social and environmental disasters. The nonprofit and Andrés were the focus of the 2022 National Geographic documentary “We Feed People,” which shed light on their work during times of crisis.

In an interview with Variety in 2022, José Andrés highlighted the importance of food as a necessity for humans, especially during emergencies. The region of Gaza has been dealing with violence and bombings since October 7, when terrorist attacks by Hamas led to a war with Israel. Despite this ongoing crisis, World Central Kitchen continues its mission to provide food to those in need, showcasing its dedication to making a positive impact even in the face of adversity.
