Transavia’s Expansion in Montpellier: A Closer Look at the New Istanbul, Rabat, and Oran Routes

Transavia revs up in Montpellier: “Back in the game”

Transavia, an Air-France-KLM subsidiary, has successfully expanded its presence in Hérault with the addition of three new destinations: Istanbul (Turkey), Rabat (Morocco), and Oran (Algeria). Montpellier has now become the group’s hub for the Mediterranean market, with a total of 14 destinations served in nine countries.

“This summer, we are offering an additional 20,000 seats from Montpellier and aiming for an 80% occupancy rate. We are already seeing high demand for the Istanbul route, which will operate twice a week,” explains Nicolas Hénin, deputy general manager of Transavia. The airline transported 284,000 passengers from Montpellier in 2023 and aims to reach 340,000 tickets in 2024.

Aside from expanding its services from Montpellier, Transavia is also focusing on the development of the Montpellier-Paris-Orly line. The airport director, Emmanuel Brehmer, highlights the upcoming benefits of the Paris metro’s Line 14 extension to Orly, which will provide easy access to the center of the capital at a lower cost than the TGV.

In addition to its expansion in Montpellier and Paris-Orly line development, Transavia is launching a new service from Toulouse to Dubai. The airline is committed to providing affordable and convenient travel options for passengers both domestically and internationally.
