Turning the Tide: Bringing Quality Healthcare to Southern Israel with a New Hospital in the Negev

New public hospital approved for construction in Beer Sheva

The constant closures in Safed have been a source of frustration for businesses in the north, causing significant disruptions to the local economy and the livelihoods of those in the area. However, there is hope on the horizon as a new hospital is being established in the Negev region.

Prof. Yitzhak Kreis, director of the Sheba Medical Center, expressed optimism about the new hospital’s ability to bring quality public medicine to the area and Israel as a whole. He emphasized that this mission aligns with Zionist values, prioritizing patient care and offering residents of the south medical services of international standards.

Il Gabai, chairman of United, highlighted how this hospital will help correct years of disparity in healthcare services for residents in southern Israel. The CEO of Leumit HMO also emphasized how joint ownership will provide additional health services both within the hospital and in the community.

Mayor Rubik Danilovich of Beer Sheva shared his excitement about this historic decision to upgrade healthcare access in southern Israel after years of advocacy. He urged immediate planning and training for medical personnel to expedite the hospital’s establishment and improve healthcare access for residents.

The new hospital aims to close decades-old gaps in healthcare services, improve quality of life, and create thousands of job opportunities. It also expects to drive economic growth by connecting with innovation districts, startups, and international research initiatives.
