Unraveling the Authenticity of Three Newly Discovered Paintings with Science and Art Expertise

John Constable: The Link Between Art and Technology in the 19th Century

In the hallowed halls of academia, a group of forensic experts and art historians are collaborating on a groundbreaking project to unravel the mystery surrounding three newly discovered paintings. These works, christened The Coming Storm, Sandpit, and Norwich School, have been undergoing rigorous testing to ascertain their authenticity.

The team at the University of Bradford is employing state-of-the-art technology such as CT scanning and 3D microscopy equipment to scrutinize the pigments and brushwork of these paintings. Dr. Alex Surtees, a forensic science lecturer at the university, is leading the charge and emphasizing that while science can offer valuable insights, ultimately, it’s up to art experts to provide final validation.

Dr. Surtees expressed his enthusiasm about being part of this exciting endeavor. “It would be an honor for me to contribute my expertise in helping determine whether these masterpieces belong in the annals of history as authentic John Constable pieces.”

The results of this research will be shared with the private owners of these paintings once all tests are complete. As Dr. Surtees puts it: “We’re eager to share our findings with them so they can make an informed decision about their precious possessions.”
