Township parks will have upgraded sports courts by mid-summer thanks to Edison.

In the coming summer, the township of Edison plans to upgrade and repair sports courts at nine parks. Bids for the work, which includes resurfacing and crack repairs, are currently being sought. The bids are due by April 30, and the township council will review them before awarding the contract. Once the contract is awarded, the work is expected to be completed within 90 days.

The sports courts that will undergo restoration as part of this project are located at Bernard L. Dwyer Park, Minnie B. Veal/Elder Park, Hale Park, Yelencsics Park, Winter Street Park, Central Avenue Park, Paterniti Park, Thomas Swales Park, and North Eighth Avenue tennis courts. The project will involve clearing and grading the areas around the sports courts, removing existing features such as trees and stumps, removing pavement from the sports courts surface area and repairing cracks in it with new asphalt base and surface courses. Additionally, pickleball and tennis posts basketball posts and goals color surfacing system line striping will be installed as well.
