The Women’s T20 World Cup is set to take place this year, with the top 10 women’s cricket teams from around the world competing for the title. The tournament will feature two groups, with Group A consisting of Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Qualifier 1, and Group B including Bangladesh, England, South Africa, West Indies, and Qualifier 2.
Qualifier 1 and Qualifier 2 will come from the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The top two teams from these qualifiers will secure the last two spots in the main tournament. Matches in Group A will be held at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium while Group B matches will be played at the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals on May 17 and 18. The final match of the Women’s T20 World Cup will take place at the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium on October 20. South Africa and England are scheduled to start off the tournament with a match on October 3 while India begins their campaign against New Zealand on October 4.
In the previous edition of this tournament that took place in 2020 India reached the final but fell short to Australia. This time around they hope to go all the way and win their first ever title in this format of cricket. A total of 23 matches will be played over an eighteen day period with all eyes on which team can come out on top as champions of women’s T20 cricket.
