Yankees outfielder Jasson Dominguez is making progress in his recovery and rehabilitation from Tommy John surgery. According to manager Aaron Boone, the 21-year-old is close to starting rehab games, likely within the next two weeks. Initially, he will serve as a designated hitter before transitioning back to the outfield.
In recent weeks, Dominguez has been participating in live batting practices and defensive drills as he gradually increases his baseball activities since his surgery seven months ago on September 20. He started throwing in early February and began hitting off a tee at the end of the month. By March, Dominguez progressed to throwing from 75 feet and hitting from both sides of the plate as he prepares for game action.
As the Yankees’ top prospect and ranked 37th overall by MLB Pipeline, Dominguez made his MLB debut last season and showed promise with his performance before sustaining his injury. With his return to playing in rehab games imminent, fans can look forward to seeing Dominguez back on the field soon.
