YouTube Engineer James Whomsley Achieves Double Guinness World Records with Custom Remote-Controlled Planes on DIY Carrier

YouTuber sets Guinness World Record for largest model aircraft carrier

Recently, James Whomsley, a British YouTube engineering channel host, achieved a double Guinness World Record. The first record was for building the world’s largest remote-controlled aircraft carrier model, and the second was for successfully landing two remote control model planes on it. To accomplish this feat, Whomsley spent three months constructing the aircraft carrier using wood, foam, and fiberglass. Expanding foam was used to make it waterproof.

After completing the model aircraft carrier, Whomsley had to learn how to fly the remote-controlled planes and modify them to land on the carrier. He added first-person view cameras to improve visibility during landings. The model planes used in the project were modified ready-to-fly models. Test flights and landings were conducted at Rudyard Lake in Straffordshire.

During testing, one of the model planes crashed into the water. However, Whomsley persevered and continued his attempts to land the planes on the carrier successfully. His YouTube video documenting his attempts also includes part of the building process. Prior to this project, Whomsley set a Guinness World Record for building a remote-controlled jet-powered car that reached a speed of 94.76 mph. Unfortunately, during its third run at an event in Blackpool Lancashire, England, it reached an impressive speed but was destroyed beyond repair after reaching 141 mph due to overheating from its JetCat 220 engine.

Whomsley’s achievements are truly impressive as he continues to push boundaries in his pursuit of creating amazing feats with his engineering skills and passion for technology!
