US quartet shatters world record in distance medley relay at Eugene event

Brandon Miller, Henry Wynne, Isaiah Harris and Brannon Kidder collaborated to break the world record in the distance medley relay at the Oregon Relays in Eugene, USA. The relay involves four legs of 1200m, 400m, 800m and 1600m.

Kidder began with a strong leg of 1200m in 2:49.60, followed by Miller running a swift 46.60 for the 400m leg. Harris then ran an impressive 1:45.75 for the 800m leg before Wynne closed out the race with a remarkable time of 3:52.64 for the final leg of 1600m.

Their combined time of 9:14.58 set a new world record, beating the previous mark of 9:15.5 set in Nassau in May 2015. The next World Athletics Relays will be held on May 4-5 at the same venue as last year’s competition. Their performance is subject to ratification procedures before being officially recognized as a world record breakers.
