Fighting for a Chance: The World Wrestling Olympic Qualifiers 2024 in Istanbul Determine Australia’s Olympic Wrestling Medal Dreamers

How to watch live events in Australia and check the schedule

The upcoming World Wrestling Olympic Qualifiers 2024 in Istanbul, Turkey, are the final chance for wrestlers to earn a spot in the upcoming Summer Games in Paris 2024. Three Olympic quotas are available in each weight class, and all matches will be live streamed.

The top two finalists in each division will secure Olympic quotas for their countries, while the third spot will be determined by a playoff bout between the two bronze medallists in the weight class.

Masuda, originally from Japan but now competing for Australia, and Barns, the Oceania champion in his weight class, both fell in the quarters at their respective continental qualifiers in March. Despite this setback, Australia has a history of success in wrestling at the Olympics, having won three medals – one silver and two bronze. However, their last medal was in 1948 and no Australian wrestlers competed at the Tokyo 2020 Games.
