French Bakers Break World Record for Longest Baguette

A group of 18 talented bakers recently came together to break the world record for the longest baguette in history. This achievement is being celebrated as a proud moment for France, as they have reclaimed the title from Italy. The previous record was set in June 2019 by Croce Rossa Italiana in Como, Italy, with a baguette that measured an impressive 132.62 meters. On May 5, 2024, French bakers created a baguette that measured an even more impressive 140.53 meters, securing the title.

The event took place during the Suresnes Baguette Show near Paris. The bakers had to follow strict guidelines to ensure that their creation met all requirements for the record. They were only allowed to use flour, water, yeast, and salt to make the baguette and it had to be at least 5 centimeters thick throughout its length in order to qualify for the record. The traditional process of making the baguette began early in the morning and a mobile oven was specially designed for this attempt.
