Tornado Touches Down in Eastern Oklahoma: Severe Storms Prompt Tornado Watch in Tulsa County

Oklahoma under tornado watch advisory

On Monday night, severe storms persisted in eastern Oklahoma, with a confirmed tornado touching down just west of Skiatook Lake at around 9:15 p.m. The tornado continued to move towards the northeast through Barnsdall and towards the Bartlesville area before eventually being absorbed by a squall line to the west. Witnesses on the ground reported seeing a large, wedge tornado near Barnsdall, where damage was reported.

The storms were expected to continue moving eastward throughout the evening, with the potential to become stronger to severe, bringing hail, strong winds, and isolated tornadoes as the main threats. Meteorologist Kirsten Lang provided the forecast for severe weather expected on Monday night in Tulsa County. A tornado watch was in effect until 11 pm on Monday, indicating that there was a high risk of encountering tornadoes in the area.
