Jimmies Suffer Tough 4-1 Loss to CUNE at Home

Concordia sweeps Jimmies in doubleheader on the baseball field – Jamestown Sun

On April 22, the University of Jamestown baseball team suffered a tough 4-1 loss to Concordia University (Neb.) at Jack Brown Stadium. The Jimmies’ pitcher, Luke Zimmer, faced early trouble giving up a solo home run and two singles in the top of the first inning. Despite this, he managed to work his way out with two fly outs.

As the game progressed, Concordia hit two more solo home runs to lead Jamestown 3-0 through the sixth inning. They added another run on a sacrifice fly in the seventh to make it 4-0. The Jimmies were able to score a run in the bottom of the seventh when Hayden Brown hit a solo home run to cut the deficit to 4-1.

Despite their best efforts, Jamestown was unable to overcome Concordia’s strong pitching and defense, with Luke Zimmer lasting only four innings and giving up two runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts but no walks. On the other hand, Caden Johnson from Concordia pitched a complete game, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out five.

In terms of hits, Concordia recorded 10 while Jamestown had just three. The final score was CUNE 4, UJ 1 and it was a tough loss for Jamestown but they showed resilience and fought until the end.
