North Wind Portage Awarded Initial Task Order for U.S. Department of Energy’s Nationwide DD&R Services

DOE Awards National Small Business Contract for Deactivation, Decommissioning, and Removal Services

The U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Environmental Management (EM) has recently awarded a small business set-aside contract to provide Nationwide Deactivation, Decommissioning, and Removal (DD&R) services for EM sites, the National Nuclear Security Administration, Office of Naval Reactors, and the Office of Science. Fourteen small businesses have been awarded contracts for this project, including companies like A2RGC LLC, Apogee, and GEM Technologies.

One of the small businesses, North Wind Portage, has been awarded the initial Task Order under the Small Business Nationwide DD&R contract. This Task Order will support the Energy Technology Engineering Center Mission Completion project and will include Environmental Monitoring, Surveillance and Maintenance, Project Support, DD&R, and Groundwater Remediation services. The amount awarded for this Task Order is $18,601,576.

For over 30 years, EM has been dedicated to addressing the environmental legacy left behind by nuclear weapons development and nuclear energy research. The work done by EM has played a significant role in ending World War II
