Rutgers standout Clifford Omoruyi moves to Alabama: Former top shot-blocker in the nation transferred her last season

Rutgers’ highly ranked big man Clifford Omoruyi has committed to Alabama’s men’s basketball team through the transfer portal. This move adds to the Crimson Tide’s roster for the 2024-25 season. Omoruyi, who was ranked as the No. 13 player in CBS Sports’ Transfer Rankings, is known for his impressive stats and shot-blocking abilities. In four seasons at Rutgers, he started 104 games, averaging 10.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks in 26 minutes.

Alabama has added four transfers this offseason, with Omoruyi joining Aden Holloway from Auburn, Chris Youngblood from USF, and Houston Mallette from Pepperdine. The team has the No. 2 recruiting class from the 2024 cycle, which includes top prospects like five-star center Derrion Reid and four-star players like Aiden Sherrell, Labaron Philon, and Naas Cunningham.
