Texas A&M Legends Anjanette Kirkland and Andrea Williams Join the San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame: A Closer Look at Their Accomplishments and Legacy

Texas A&M legends Anjanette Kirkland and Andrea Williams were recently inducted into the San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2024. The induction ceremony took place at the Henry B. González Convention Center.

Kirkland, a graduate of Holmes High School in San Antonio, was a member of the Texas A&M track and field team from 1993-97. She was named Female Performer of the Year at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships in 1997 and is already a member of several other halls of fame including the Texas A&M Athletics Hall of Fame, Southwest Conference Hall of Fame, and Texas Black Sports Hall of Fame. Kirkland currently coaches track and field at Cypress Woods High School in Houston.

Williams, who attended Churchill High School, competed for the Aggies in volleyball from 1992-95 and basketball from 1993-94. She is recognized as a member of the SEC Legends Class of 2020 and was a trailblazer at Texas A&M by becoming the first athlete to letter in both volleyball and basketball in the same year. She helped lead her teams to the NCAA Sweet 16 in both sports after her athletic career, she pursued a successful career in sports administration, currently serving as Chief Experience Officer for NBA’s Utah Jazz.

Each member of the Class of 2024 has made significant contributions to the world of sports, leaving a lasting legacy in their respective fields.
