Midland Valley (13-4) softball emerged victorious over North Augusta (13-5) 6-1 in game two at home on Wednesday night. The Mustangs showcased their aggressive base running and strong pitching against the Jackets, who struggled to get their bats going after a 12-7 win on Monday. In the third inning, Midland Valley took the lead when Addison Haltiwanger and Bailey Seabolt hit singles and advanced on a throw. Anslee Heath then singled to bring both runners home, giving Midland Valley a 2-0 lead. The team continued to capitalize on scoring opportunities, adding four more runs in the following innings. The players’ speed and awareness on the bases impressed coach Katie Anderson, who commended their trust in each other and their understanding of the game.

Head coach Anderson credited her team’s turnaround to their hard work, regrouping, and determination to come back stronger. She praised the hitting, defense, and especially the pitching of her players in this game. Karley Bedenbaugh earned the win with an impressive pitching performance, striking out five batters, walking five, and only allowing three hits.
