Triple Threats and RBIs Lead to Somerset’s Baseball Victory over Richland, as Local Tennis Champions Are Crowned

Top performers in spring sports in Somerset County from May 6-11

The baseball games on Monday saw Somerset defeat Richland 18-5 with a strong performance from Callen Miller and Lane Lambert. Miller recorded five hits, including a home run and five RBIs, while Lambert added two hits, including a homer and five RBIs. Carter Dunmyer also contributed three hits to the win, and Braeden Flower struck out 10 batters over six innings.

In Conemaugh Township’s 7-5 victory over Cambria Heights, Larry Weaver led the charge, delivering two hits, including a home run and two RBIs. D.J. Bambino added two RBIs, and Luke Weber and Brennan Lohr each had two hits in the win.

Windber secured a 12-2 win over Ferndale with Lucas Oleksa hitting a 3-run home run and collecting four RBIs. Lucas Rummel had two hits and an RBI, while Nathan Betcher added a hit and two RBIs. Logan Serenko struck out five batters in the game.

Hancock defeated Turkeyfoot Valley 10-2 with Bryce Nicholson contributing two hits and Gavin Culp tallying an RBI single for the Rams in the loss.

In tennis news, Somerset’s Cornelius Grau and Josiah Antram won the District 5 Class 2A doubles championship by defeating Tussey Mountain’s Luke Barnett and Nolan May 6-1, 6-2.
