American Men and Women Dominate 4×100 Heats

In Nassau, the atmosphere was electric as Noah Lyles got the Bahamian crowd pumped up before leading Team USA to a world-leading time in the men’s 4x100m relay. The evening of relays saw several teams secure their quota spots for the Paris Games, with the top two teams in each event earning the opportunity to compete.

Team USA, comprised of Courtney Lindsey, Kenny Bednarek, Kyree King, and Noah Lyles, clocked a time of 37.49 to win Heat 1 of the men’s 4x100m relay. They narrowly edged out the Italian team, which included Olympic 100m champion Marcell Jacobs, who finished with a time of 38.14.

The U.S. women had a strong showing in the 4x100m relay, posting the fastest time of the night with a time of 42.21. However, their men faced a setback in the 4x400m relay when they were disqualified for an illegal handoff. Despite this, they remained focused on securing their spot for Paris.

As the qualification process continues and National Olympic Committees have final say on which athletes will represent their countries at Paris Games, athletes will need to be selected by their NOCs in order to compete at Paris 2024.
