Tri-State Community Health Center Awarded $1.4 Million Grant to Continue Serving Underserved Tennessee Population

Tri-State Community Health Center, a vital resource for Tennessee’s underserved population, has received a grant of $1,416,200 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to continue providing essential services. Congressman Steve Cohen from Tennessee’s 9th district announced the award, emphasizing the critical need for the center’s work in an area where many residents lack access to affordable health insurance due to the state’s decision not to expand its Medicaid program, TennCare.

Cohen expressed his concern for these individuals and highlighted the burden placed on financially strained hospitals that provide uncompensated care. He also criticized Tennessee’s failure to expand Medicaid, which prevents its residents from fully benefiting from a federal program they are already contributing to through their tax dollars.
