Unmasked Thieves: The Unending Cycle of Car Break-ins in Snapfinger Woods, Dekalb County

Business owners in Dekalb County frustrated by ongoing car break-ins in busy community.

In recent months, a string of car break-ins has left the Dekalb County community feeling frustrated and violated. With 40 incidents already this year, all happening in a one mile radius around Snapfinger Woods Dr. and Interstate 20, the thieves have managed to evade capture despite surveillance videos capturing their activities.

The thieves use nearby woods and holes in fences as shortcuts and hiding spots, breaking car windows, stealing items quickly, and then running off while hiding their faces with hoodies. One customer in the busy business area, Quentalyn Stephens, expressed her frustration after her car was stolen in the same area last year. She felt violated and urged for action to be taken.

However, business owners and workers are hesitant to speak out publicly for fear of retaliation. Despite surveillance video warnings and the presence of light and people around, the thieves continue their activities undeterred. The community is hoping for more police patrols to address the issue and slow down the break-ins. The ongoing incidents have caused a sense of unease and concern among residents and business owners in the area.
