Tesla’s Global Staff Reduction Does Not Affect Giga Mexico Construction in Nuevo León”.

Secretary of Economy assures Tesla Giga Mexico will not be impacted by layoffs

The construction of Giga Mexico by Tesla is not affected by the company’s global staff reduction, according to Iván Rivas Rodríguez, the State Secretary of Economy in Nuevo León. Despite some Tesla employees receiving layoff notifications via email on Monday, Rodríguez stated that the project is still advancing as planned and there is no perceived risk associated with the ongoing construction efforts.

While Tesla employees in the United States and China were affected by the layoffs, those working at Giga Berlin in Europe have not received any notice of impending job cuts. In fact, Giga Berlin’s management clarified that local media reports of potential layoffs were inaccurate, and no such action was planned without proper consultation with works council, unions, and relevant employment agencies.

Tesla explained that the restructuring was necessary to optimize operations and streamline functions following years of rapid growth and expansion across different regions. The company emphasized that it remains committed to its investment in Santa Catarina municipality and continues to work towards making Giga Mexico a reality.
